The staff were really nice and helpful, and there’s a water dispenser in the lobby, so I didn’t need to buy water. The metro is only a few minutes away on foot, and the location is very good. There wasn’t much room for clothes. A few hangers don’t really do the job, and some drawers would help. A small fridge would be nice too. Cleaning could be better, since I never saw the floor washed during my stay.

I paid for a room through airbnb, then arrived to find the whole building under renovation. I had to find somewhere else to stay, and they weren't replying to my messages or calls. Nobody contacted me to say the place was being renovated, so why was it still listed on airbnb? At least they should have told their guests. I was terribly disappointed.

Central market is right behind Hotel Avenue J, and the neighbourhood itself feels nice and charming. Masjid Jamek metro is just a 3-4 minute walk away, with public transport connections to anywhere in KL. For the price, the service is great value in every way. If you want to avoid Kuala Lumpur's chaotic charm and Bukit Bintang's bustling boredom, this hotel and neighbourhood are a good fit.

I arrived in pouring rain and had nowhere to go in because Avenue J hotel was closed for renovations. They had still accepted my reservation, and nobody had let me know. A very poor experience.

Central Market and Chinatown are close by, and the prices are reasonable. The room was small, with housekeeping available only if you asked. There were no windows, which made it quite humid, and the bathroom's glass partition was inside the room. The staff were friendly.
