Cardogan Hotel

I was here for almost a month. The staff were excellent, and the location was great. The place is what it is, but the TV, aircon, and hot shower all worked. The price was okay for the area, and I’ll stay again next time I’m in KL.

My family has stayed at several hotels in Malaysia, including smaller ones, and we’ve never had so many problems. I’m sharing this so the management can improve how things work for other guests. After checking out at 12pm, we had until our Grab driver’s 3.30pm pickup to catch our 6.30pm plane, and wanted to do some urgent shopping. We had 2 small luggages and a small bag that we couldn’t take to the mall. To our surprise, the counter staff lady told us to leave our bags beside the hotel staircase because the hotel had nowhere to store them temporarily. When I asked what would happen if they were lost, she said they had no space for guests’ luggage and, if it was lost, “lost lor”. I was angry and asked who would be responsible. She went quiet. Luckily, Aye came to help and resolved the problem. Thank you so much. Other hotel guests also need luggage storage. Surely we can’t be expected to accept responsibility for bags lost at the hotel. We also had trouble from the first day, though I hadn’t wanted to complain at first. The air-con was spoilt, so we had to move from room number 502 and 503 to 508 and 509. The fridge didn’t work in any of the rooms. We followed the hotel’s instructions and didn’t make a fuss. There were lots of small cockroaches 🪳 everywhere, even inside a drawer. The hotel lift wasn’t ready to use, so we climbed the quite steep stairs from the ground floor to the fifth floor without complaining. We understood the situation. When we changed rooms, the door cards wouldn’t open either room because the system hadn’t been updated. We’d already climbed upstairs, then had to come back down to the counter. We called the night counter lady to ask what to do, but she told us to come down. Once we got there, she said the system hadn’t been updated after the room change. There was no apology, and she could have told us on the phone that she just needed to update the system. My husband and I aren’t young, and had to climb the stairs all over again. She should consider guests’ health and at least say sorry for forgetting to update the system. We were so disappointed. I have already spoken to the hotel manager Ms Josine. She seemed unaware of all these problems, as nobody had reported them to her. It felt like the staff were just doing whatever they liked.

A good budget option for families. Our room fit five comfortably, with plenty of space, comfy beds, and a clean toilet. There are lots of restaurants close by, along with 711 and the 24hr KK Mart convenience store. KLCC, Pavilion, and Berjaya Times Square are all within walking distance.

They gave us just 1 room card, without a reasonable explanation. With 3 people in one room, how are we supposed to get in if we go out separately? The TV channels were bad too. Please improve!
