We had several problems during our stay at Cubic Botanical by Homebrickz: bed bugs, WiFi that didn't work for two weeks despite being paid for, and air conditioning that wasn't serviced after repeated requests. Yet the termination letter included an RM400 charge for air conditioning service, even though it hadn't been done when we moved in. That's unfair and misleading. The deposit was supposed to be returned within 10 days under the agreement. More than a month passed without a proper response despite my repeated follow-ups. The termination letter only arrived after a month, and the refund amount didn't match what we'd agreed. When I asked about it, they said they'd “forgotten” the access card deposit, which shows careless handling of tenant money. Staff were unresponsive and unprofessional, gave inconsistent information, and showed no real responsibility or apology for their mistakes. Weeks of silence blamed on “meetings” were unacceptable. Keeping a tenant's money without transparency and ignoring problems was extremely frustrating. Be very cautious. I strongly don't recommend this management.

The second bedroom was extremely hot, with only two single beds and a fan. There were no power sockets or side table there. The floor was dusty, as if housekeeping hadn't properly cleaned, and there wasn't a floor mat for wiping feet. The kettle couldn't be used because its socket was faulty, and the washing machine's 15-minute quick wash kept running without finishing. I had specifically paid for a unit with a working washing machine. There was no toilet paper, although Agoda listed it. Customer service said it was out of stock and offered no solution. The TV had no channels at all, not even local ones. The rules also seemed unreasonable, with charges for every stain on towels, sofa, or linens. It wasn't good value for money. My security deposit wasn't returned on checkout day and reportedly takes up to five days to process, so I had to follow up every day.

It was a relaxing place to stay, and getting to the pool and gym was easy. The room was spacious enough to live in and very clean. Service was decent too, and the cleaners were especially friendly and helpful. I'd come back.

The gym was good and the room was okay, but the bathroom had no sink, so we had to brush our teeth at the sink used for dishes. That felt really unhygienic. The location wasn't good and felt dangerous, though there were essential shops downstairs. Check-in was a mess. At reception we were told to contact a number on WhatsApp for our details, and that took over 45 minutes. The guards/security acted oddly. When my partner went out alone, they asked her unnecessary questions; when she was with me, they spoke Tamil, a language that was foreign to us and not Malay, Chinese, or English. She got awkward stares despite dressing conservatively, which didn't feel safe for women. At checkout I hadn't been given any instructions beyond what I'd received at check-in. The code for the letter box was wrong, so I had to leave the key card inside the room. 2 out of 10 is the accurate score.
