Eminent Suite @ Platinum Suites Kuala Lumpur

The room might have been fine, spacious, modern, and with nice views, but I never got past how stressful check-in was. I booked through Agoda after seeing 24-hour check-in and “early check-in feasibility.” In practice, reception being open around the clock didn’t mean I could get a key before 3 PM without paying. Early check-in was offered for 290 RM. Arriving before 3 PM meant either waiting in the lobby or paying extra, which was rough after a red-eye flight. There was also a passport name problem. My booking had my first and last name, but my passport includes my middle name. They refused to check me in until Agoda changed the booking. I spent 50 minutes making frantic calls, waiting on hold, and explaining to three different people that “Sanket Jha” was still me without the middle name. I was jet-lagged and sweaty, standing there wondering why I’d booked it. Deface Platinum 2 in Kuala Lumpur is advertised as a luxurious serviced apartment, with an infinity pool and views that look great in photos, but the check-in experience felt like a horror movie called “No Vacancy for You.” I booked expecting 24-hour check-in and a possibility of early arrival, and the actual rules made the place feel inflexible. I’d avoid it. There are plenty of other places in KL with reasonable check-in and staff who won’t treat a missing middle name like a security threat.

The tower view room was just perfect, and the pool view was amazing, especially for this price range. I’d read a lot of negative reviews and felt a bit suspicious beforehand, but the hotel turned out to be very good. They took a 500ringgit deposit and refunded the full amount after checking the room, without any trouble or questions.

The facilities and basics were disappointing. The gym only runs from 10am-10pm, which doesn’t work well for guests who want an early workout. There were no water bottles in the room at check-in, only the next day, no face cloths, and no pool towels. When we asked, they told us to use our room towels. Service felt unprofessional too. Staff were on their phones at the front counter while we waited. Since we had no credit card, we paid the bond in cash and were told to wait 30 minutes after checkout for the room inspection before getting it back. They said a debit card refund could take up to 5 months, which seems unreasonable. Then they came up with rules like telling my kids they had to go to bed by 10pm. I told them not to tell my kids when to sleep while we were on holiday. I would never book here again. The experience fell short and both service and facilities need improvement.

The view was the best part, and the suite itself was huge, with two queen beds. But the service was crazy, slow, unpredictable, and expensive. 300 rm for a lost key? A 30 minute room check before checkout? A 500 rm deposit? Are you serious? There was only one socket between the beds, and it didn’t even work.
