Day Cocoon Hotel

I booked a private room with a window, but there wasn’t one in the room. The only window was in the toilet for ventilation, and it had been covered with wallpaper. There was nobody at reception when I arrived, so I was stuck on the stairs, where it already smelled bad. On Agoda this is called Comfort guests house, but I don’t know where the comfort is. It felt more like a Bangala hostel.

They never cleaned our room during the few days we stayed, from check-in right through checkout. Dust was everywhere, especially in the air conditioner, and it was hard to breathe comfortably in the room. I ended up with a bad flu and cough. If you care about your health, avoid this hotel. There are much better places around, and a cheap rate isn’t worth getting sick over. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

For a short, low-cost stay, Day Cocoon Hotel is a decent option. The rooms are basic, but they’re fair for the price, and it’s good value if you’re watching your budget. The location is excellent, close to everything. Staff are polite and helpful, though they can be busy.

The location is the one good thing. The room had no TV or fridge, only air conditioning, and the pillows smelled musty. The double bed sloped down on one side enough to make me feel I could roll off. The toilet was spacious but had no vent. There was a large, low window opening onto the corridor outside the room, low enough to climb through. The advertised 24-hour reception was really just an office or study table. I arrived early in the morning, couldn’t get in, and got no answer when I called. They sent a photo showing which room to use, but the room and hotel gate keys were inside while I was stuck outside. I was lucky another guest was near the entrance at 5am and let me in. I waited until 10am for reception, nobody showed, so I left and checked into another hotel. RM250 for four nights sounds like a steal, but this wasted my time. The rooms are on the second floor, with stairs up to the first floor, then a turn through an adjoining building, access through the hotel gate, and more stairs. There’s no lift, so it’s very inconvenient. All in all, I really don’t recommend it.
