H Boutique Hotel Xplorer Loke Yew

The room was adequately clean, and most of the service staff were polite, though their English was limited. The middle-aged Malay woman on staff spoke better English. I couldn’t get through to the operator from my room, so I had to call the main sales line or go down to reception. The lobby and corridors also have no aircon. The biggest issue is the location, in a pretty lifeless neighborhood. The nearest MRT station isn’t that close, and the closest convenience stores are at least a 10-minute walk away. At night the area is pitch black, with no shops or places to eat nearby. I had to get a Grab whenever I wanted food, and on weekends I waited 20min and paid surge pricing. Driving might make things a little easier, though the parking didn’t seem great. I regretted booking here instead of Cojoy hotel, which is cheaper and better placed for eateries and the MRT. Staying at Cojoy would have saved me all those extra costs.

We got a room on the third floor within a few minutes of checking in for one night. The hotel has 5 floors and a lift. It’s beside a Chinese restaurant, handy if you want dinner, and the corridor is beautifully lit. The room was spacious and the bed pretty comfortable. We liked the toilet layout and design, and the water pressure was amazing. It was clean overall, though the toilet bowl could have been cleaner. The hotel provides an iron corner and water purifier, along with basic toiletries, and the air conditioning worked fine. The main drawback was the poor soundproofing. We could hear the next room and people walking and talking in the corridor. The pillows were too thin, and we would have appreciated 4 instead of 2. For the price, it was an above-average experience and felt like good value.

The staff were polite and helpful, and the room was clean. Worth the money.

The female Malay receptionist made my journey better. She carried my bags from the corridor outside the hotel without me even asking, listened patiently to my questions, and gave correct, relevant answers. She kept eye contact and was polite and approachable. That’s excellent service and really going the extra mile. Thank you.
