Hotel 99 Pudu Kuala Lumpur

The WiFi was very slow at 11pm, and there was no 5g signal. The whole hotel and the room looked old and very dirty, with unpleasant stains on the bedsheets, blankets, and pillows. Loose electrical outlets made charging difficult, and only one had a two-prong plug while the others had three. I was completely surprised by an extra 10 RM per person per night, since it wasn't mentioned in the booking notes. Soundproofing was terrible, and I could hear the next room's door opening. Totally disappointed. I wish I'd undone the booking and chosen somewhere else ☠️

We left to find somewhere better because the noise from adjoining rooms and a nearby storeroom kept us awake. The bathroom flooded completely when we showered, so don't leave clothes on the floor. The first night, water dripped onto our heads from the ceiling. There were badly done patches, so this clearly wasn't the first leak. We asked for another room, but one wasn't available until just before midnight. It was only marginally better, at least the ceiling patches where water came through weren't above our heads. The rooms were disgusting. I've worked in maintenance at five-star and budget hotels in Australia for over 30 years, and this was one of the worst I've seen. There was no refund, but our health and sanity were worth more than the cost of the remaining two nights. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL.

The staff were polite and friendly, which I appreciated, but the room itself made the stay disappointing. The sheets had obvious stains, so it looked as if they hadn't been changed for a new guest. A small room with limited equipment is something I can accept, but clean bedding is a basic requirement. The bathroom was another problem. Water stayed on the floor because the drainage was poor, and the glass shower door made it uncomfortable to share the room with friends: someone showering could clearly be seen in shadow from outside, especially with the shower head right beside the glass. I found that awkward and intrusive. Given the hygiene issues and room condition, I wouldn't stay here again.

The room looked very different from its online photos, and basic comfort and cleanliness were lacking. The toilet smelled bad, the flush buttons had green mold, and the towels were dirty. When I asked for clean ones, staff argued that the laundry had already cleaned them. The old air conditioner barely cooled the room, and the Wi-Fi was often unavailable or unreliable. I also felt unsafe because transgender people were soliciting outside the hotel lobby. There is no breakfast restaurant either. I left disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place.
