MPalace Hotel

I enjoyed the spacious room and the local food and culture, and paid less for it. I gave three stars so management might pay attention to cleanliness, though personally the problems didn’t bother me too much. I picked this hotel because I liked the room size. The power cuts automatically when you pull out the key card, so the air-conditioning stops too. The air in my room wasn’t fresh, but I knew why. It wasn’t very clean, with stains and marks on the walls. I noticed right away but didn’t get discouraged. After the first night, once the bedding and towels had been changed, I got used to the wear and tear and outdated room and started enjoying it. The air felt fresher and the bad smell was gone. I cleaned the sink and some other areas and disinfected the surfaces myself. The water pressure was great, and I liked the waterfall shower. The bathroom and shower room were spacious. I travel a lot, and once I find a room the right size, I settle in and enjoy it. If you can’t handle outdated rooms, stains, and marks, you’ll be disappointed in this hotel and places in this price range. If you can’t spend time with locals, eat their food, or learn about their culture, this isn’t the hotel for you. The same goes if you can’t stand homeless people. The hotel also charged an additional 10 riggits per night at check-in for some kind of undisclosed taxes.

The lift was under maintenance, which was inconvenient. Staff weren’t very welcoming and didn’t speak politely, and the customer service left a lot to be desired. The whole stay fell short of expectations and needs improvement.

The city-centre location is the only good thing about this hotel. The room felt uninviting, with old furniture and an old overall feel. The TV was just a small desktop monitor, and the air-conditioning didn’t get cold.

There isn’t a bidet shower in any of the rooms. For a hotel in Malaysia, I don’t think it should be here.
