SCC Gateway Chinatown Hotel

The room on the eighth floor was so small it barely felt big enough for one person, never mind two, and it had a musty smell. For what I paid, I could have rented an entire apartment for the same amount or a little more. It felt like a tomb, with nothing that made the climb up worth it. The lift was out of order as well. Noise made things worse. Early in the morning, kids were running and playing in the hallway, and I could hear people walking and talking, along with neighbors in the adjoining rooms. The staff are the only reason I’m giving any rating. The room gets zero. I booked because of the rating, and I wonder if there’s some trick to it, or if the other rooms are better. Either way, it needs to be expanded or the place should close. If it were free, I still wouldn’t have booked it.

The room size is okay, but the sockets are in odd spots and there isn’t enough table space for things like a phone, keys, wallet, or purse. Night service is bad, though reception during the day is nice. Ehsan is a great worker, and I really appreciated how kind he was to us. One warning: don’t touch the sides of the sink when they’re wet. That isn’t silicone, it’s putty, and it’ll ruin your clothes.

Clean rooms, very helpful and friendly staff, and public transport close by. Great value for what I paid.

I spent three nights here and would stay again next year. The staff were very good, and Eden was especially helpful, guiding me and my family during our stay. The room price was reasonable, and there’s plenty of cheap food around. We stayed on an upper floor, so road noise was lower. One thing they should add is a TV in the room. Not everyone uses a phone, especially senior citizens.
