The staff were courteous and helpful, and there are plenty of good restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It’s a bit far from downtown, and the rooms could use a refresh.

This place was extremely average, so I’m not sure how it gets called “Super” OYO. I booked online through Agoda, one of those sites I consider scamming, and nearly got caught out at check-in. Make sure you have the actual booking confirmation message on your phone. A screenshot of my confirmation wasn’t enough for them to trust the booking ID. They insisted I had to pay extra tourist tax, even though it was already prepaid. I only avoided paying again when I found the original booking message and showed it to them. Why couldn’t they pull up the payment details from my booking number? It made me wonder if the confusion was being used to get more money from customers. There was no drinking water in the room, and since there’s no intercom, I had to go to the reception desk to ask for help.

A very good, economical budget hotel in the city centre, with nice room service. It’s easy to catch buses and trains, and Masjid Jamek station is just a five-minute walk away.

Room 203 was tiny and smelled moldy. The bed cover was stained, and the thin blanket smelled like it hadn’t dried properly. The AC was old but worked, though its remote looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There’s a lift, and the shower had hot water. The bathroom looked clean, but I wore the house slippers I’d brought. The slippers in the photos are mine, not the hostel’s. There was mold and dirt in the areas shown in the photos. A door between the bed and bathroom was locked in the middle and wouldn’t slide either way, so I had to squeeze sideways to get through. The entrance stays locked, so you have to ring the bell. You get a key card for the main door if you come back late. I’d booked two nights but checked out after one. It was cheap, but I still expected a clean room without a moldy smell. Lesson learned.
