Despite being right in the thick of things, with noise, heat, dirt and people as soon as you step outside, the hostel was quiet and relaxing inside. It has five floors of rooms, but never felt busy; there were only a handful of people in the common areas. My room was spacious, with a comfortable firm mattress and a good wardrobe. I could hear music from the shops below, but it quieted around 11pm. With the air con and earplugs, I slept fine, even though I’m very sensitive to noise. The staff were friendly and generally good at their jobs. Justin was especially great, making lovely coffee and chatting about city plans, particularly food. I did have a couple of service niggles. I’d specifically asked on WhatsApp for a quiet room, but was put right outside the lift. I had to ask to move, and at first it seemed difficult because they were full. When I asked how long other guests were staying, they found a room for guests who hadn’t checked in yet and were staying fewer nights. Moving farther down the corridor made a big difference, but I wish I’d been given that room from the start instead of having to push. Halfway through my stay, the bathroom tap broke. I reported in the afternoon that there was no water at the sink. When I checked at night, they confirmed it needed replacing, but only after I followed up. They offered to move me for my last couple of nights, but it was after 10pm, and I didn’t think it was my job to pack up when they needed to repair the room before the next guest anyway. I said I’d sleep on it, then told them the next morning I expected the tap to be fixed. They repaired it that afternoon, but again I had to chase for an update. I’d have liked more proactive communication, so I could relax on holiday instead of keeping track of these things. Some room maintenance would help too: the folding bathroom door was off its hinge and got in my way at the sink unless I shut it fully. These are small points that could improve the experience, but it was still a suitable, calm stay for me.
The location right on petaling street was really convenient, and I felt safe, comfortable and looked after here. There’s coffee and cozy places to hang out in the lobby, plus rooftop views. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. It was a nice balance of social space and having room to work on my own. I’d definitely stay again. :)
Everything feels brand new because the hostel was completely refurbished before opening in September 2025. It’s right inside the Petaling Street market, and Pasar Seni station is a short walk away. Despite being inside the market, it’s not noisy. The place is very clean, with lots of bathrooms and showers. Dorm lockers are available, though they don’t come with locks. The staff are great, and Justin makes excellent coffee in the lobby.
I planned to stay one night, then extended to six because I loved the location and facilities. Check-in was easy, the staff were friendly, and the common area was comfortable, with good coffee from the coffeeshop there. Internet was fast and reliable. My room was clean and nice, and the shower had good pressure, though water sprayed everywhere. Noise was fine, and things quieted after midnight when the Petaling street sellers went home. There’s a pantry with a water dispenser, microwave, tea, glasses and mugs. The dishwashing area is far behind, but that was okay. There’s no washing machine, though a laundry service is a seven-minute walk away and offers one-way delivery for 5RM. I met some friends during my stay, and there are lots of games and books in the common area. There’s only one lift, and its buttons don’t light up when pressed, but it does work. Staff leave after 11 PM, so let them know if you’ll be checking in late.
I spent a week here in Kuala Lumpur and wanted somewhere relaxed and well located. This definitely fit. The common area is lovely, and the terrace looks out over the main street. There’s also a rooftop, and both spots have a good view of the Merdeka. It’s a great hostel if you want somewhere to sit, get some work done and chat with nice people. I’d come back for sure. :)
