YY48 Hotel

I picked this place because it’s close to masjid jamek metro. My first two stays were decent, but this third visit was a mess. I arrived at 3AM and got a tiny room. There were no toiletries and no hot water, so I couldn’t shower in the morning. I’ve asked for one large double bed every time, but they keep giving me two twin beds. Most of the staff have been rude and unhelpful. They say reception and service are available 24 hours, yet I had to ask for towels at 10PM. The staff member said housekeeping wasn’t there and he’d send them the next day. They never arrived. There was also a payment dispute over my booking. I’d paid 73MYR for a high ceiling room one day, then booked a regular room for 72MYR by mistake the next day, a 3MYR price difference. I was happy to pay the difference, but staff demanded 13MYR. I explained and offered to keep the room I already had since I hadn’t spent the day there. They said they would take it from my deposit if I didn’t pay. I felt blackmailed, and ended up paying four times what I owed. The next day, another staff member tried to charge me again. I showed her the invoice proving I’d already paid. They seem able to track what customers owe, but not what they’ve already charged. If I hadn’t remembered, I could have been charged another 13MYR, making 23MYR in total. Very unprofessional. Avoid.

The manager didn’t seem interested in helping us, which made the stay especially unpleasant. We checked into YY48 hotel and only noticed the bedding later that evening, after showering. The blanket had lots of stains of unknown origin, and the sheet was stained too. We immediately asked the manager for a clean set so we could change the bedding ourselves, but were told it was too late and the hotel had no clean sheets at all. That’s not acceptable service.

There’s a water machine in the hallway on every floor, and the location is perfect. The outside looks super cute, but the place needs much better upkeep. Inside felt grimy, and the room could’ve been a lot cleaner. I saw dust and bits of dirt in the corners and on the table, plus pieces of tape around the lights, doorways, and windows on the walls and ceiling. There was mold throughout the shower and on the bathroom walls. Even though I requested a non-smoking room, mine smelled like cigarettes. It has a lot of potential, but could use a deep clean and fresh paint. The price is cheap, though places within 1-2 blocks are much cleaner and more comfortable for another $1-3usd per night.

Everything else was pretty ok, but the wifi didn’t work properly.
