The room itself was okay, and the bathroom was good. The place was quiet and peaceful, but I couldn’t make sense of the lift situation. There was an out-of-order sign, yet someone sent the lift down from upstairs so I could take my bicycle up. The stairs were spooky, with huge cobwebs everywhere. You can take the lift down, but then you can’t get back up. The hallway carpets were disgustingly dirty, torn and frayed.

It’s a reasonably cheap hotel and good value for the price, but maintenance is lacking. The website says the bathrooms have heated showers, yet some of them don’t work. Bedside lamps were also out in most rooms. We complained to the front office, but the service technician couldn’t fix the problems.

The towels looked new and were okay, but I wasn’t pleased with the stay. Our room smelled strange, the walls looked stained and old, and the rooms were really small. We’d asked for rooms next to each other but got rooms across the hall, and there was no refrigerator. I’d especially avoid this place if you have kids.

We were traveling as a large group and had called an hour ahead to say we’d arrive at 2pm, the hotel’s stated check-in time. Even so, only four of our ten rooms were ready when we got there. The rest were released in batches. At 3pm we were told our room was finally ready, but when we went in, the bed was still unmade and looked slept in. There was garbage left on the dresser. The hotel also smells strongly of industrial-grade cleaner. It doesn’t meet the standard of other budget hotels in Malaysia, like 99 hotel. I highly don’t recommend it.

For RM115 nett, I guess you get what you pay for. My queen room was small and had no hot water, but the jetty for firefly and eagle feeding trips is only a one-minute walk away. The firefly trip costs RM15 for adults and RM10 for kids; eagle feeding is RM25 for adults and RM15 for kids. There’s a 7-Eleven within walking distance and a seafood restaurant nearby. Food at the in-house restaurant is reasonably priced. The neighboring karaoke can be quite disturbing at night, so if possible, ask for a room in Block 1, which is farther away.
