Mr Ismail handled the meeting arrangements professionally, and the rest of the staff were kind and accommodating. They even let us take some food home so it wouldn’t go to waste. The food was good and there was plenty, even for a small meeting. They also printed our meeting/workshop name and put it on the complimentary felt board stage in the room. It’s an affordable place to hold a small event, with the basic equipment you need for a meeting. The projector screen is small but manageable. The facilities and toilets are a bit old, and the room air-conditioning felt warm. Parking is limited, though you can reserve a space by asking. I appreciated the water dispensers in the lobbies, and the nearby grocery stores and eateries are handy. It’s not a luxury experience, but it works well for a tight budget and for guests who need a hotel in this area.

The staff were kind and professional, but the rest of this stay was very disappointing. I arrived at 6 p.m., four hours after my scheduled check-in, and found the room still in a complete mess because housekeeping hadn’t cleaned it after the previous guest. Photos attached. I’ve stayed here four times and have never booked, or asked to book, a stay without breakfast. My invoice also doesn’t show that I opted out of breakfast. If I visit Kuching again, I won’t stay here.

The room itself was decent, apart from one bed that creaked constantly. But the guest service made this the worst hotel stay I’ve had. The power went out twice during my one night at Penview, though both times it was fixed fairly quickly. When I called guest service the second time, the response felt curt and dismissive, with none of the helpfulness or hospitality I’d expect. I was terribly disappointed and wouldn’t stay again or recommend it.

My water heater wasn’t working, and after waiting 20 minutes no one had come to help. Housekeeping was slow to respond too. Definitely a bad hotel to stay at in Kuching.
