Permai Rainforest Resort

My cabin was fantastic and private, and I really liked the living room, shower room, and balcony. The view along the way from reception was excellent too. It was my first time staying here, and I enjoyed the trip. The place is peaceful and quiet, a good fit for anyone who likes that kind of setting. To me, Permai Rainforests Resort is a second The Datai. Anyone been to The DATAI RESORT before?

This is really for people who love nature and the outdoors. Expect lots of walking up and down stairs and through the jungle, and it’s not a typical luxury spot. The beach and rainforest activities are nice, and it’s very close to Swk Cultural Village. The easiest waterfall hike is moderately difficult, with a jungle floor of rocks and roots rather than cement. If you’re not fit, you can just enjoy the beach and relax.

The staff were excellent, and the location is beautiful, with one of the best private beaches in Kuching and lovely nature trails. The cafe breakfast was decent, but it’s à la carte rather than a buffet, which was a little disappointing. The treehouse rooms really need refurbishment. The door was extremely hard to unlock, and even after staff replaced it, the same problem remained. The balcony sliding doors were also very difficult to open, and there was serious mold in the bathroom. I honestly wouldn’t recommend staying in the treehouse units. The ground level rooms may be better.

I came to see the nature and wildlife and didn’t stay here. The forest was lovely, with the sounds of nature all around, and the place is near the beach. I didn’t see monkeys that day, but I did spot a snake and a couple of squirrels. I wouldn’t want to stay in a room or treehouse, though. It seems too scary up there, and the forest noise would be unbearable.
