Bon Ton Resort Langkawi

We loved this idyllic place away from the crowds. The welcome was the best, the food was heavenly, and Bon Ton felt like a little slice of paradise. Great cocktails, a fabulous wine list, art, animals wandering around, and such a friendly atmosphere. Breakfast in our room was perfect, with homemade breads and cakes and the best coffee. It was lovely to meet the owner too. Five-star hospitality.

The huts are charming, and our child loved the pool. These are old traditional Malayan houses, so they’re not five-star accommodation, even though they have a TV, aircon, shower and fridge. There are cracks and gaps between the floorboards, but we loved the feel of the hut. Bon Ton Resort is a lovely, small resort made up of just a few houses, and the welcoming staff soon made it feel like home. The restaurant serves a good local dinner. It’s outside town, so you’ll need a car or Grab to get anywhere. Since you’re in a Muslim country, the open design means you’ll hear the call to prayer in the morning, around 5:45, for about 45 minutes with breaks. You’ll also hear animals on the roof of your hut and the dogs at the nearby shelter, so consider bringing earplugs.

The beds were comfortable, and most had mosquito nets that worked, which helped with all the mosquitoes around. The pets were everywhere, mostly friendly cats and a few dogs you could take for walks. The food was good, though it took a long time to arrive. The Geoforest Park is about a 30-minute drive away, and the boat ride there was really good.

The steak was cooked just right, and this was the best meal we’ve had in Langkawi in decades. We ate at the Bon Ton last year and enjoyed it, but this time was something special. Looking forward to another meal there during the Langkawi Cup in 2027. Highly recommend it.
