D’ Village Cottage

The peaceful setting felt a world away from Cenang’s bustle, with a slip road to the beach about 100 m across the road. There are two gazebos for relaxing, chatting, or eating while taking in the scenery. It was a unique stay and we’ll definitely return. The price point was right, too. Our room was immaculate and very spacious for four, with a comfortable feel and a serviced air conditioner that got super cool. The bathroom was roomy, and the hot shower felt great after a long day out. The host was friendly and welcoming throughout.

From here, the beach at Chenang is a two-minute drive and the airport takes about five minutes by car. Out front there’s plenty of parking, with a wide view of the mountains and paddy fields. The room was simple but comfortable for all five of us. Our friendly host let us check in early and gave us extra mattresses at no charge.

The caretaker was friendly and said a late checkout was fine if we wanted one. The setting is quiet and secluded among paddy fields, where we saw buffalos and a starry sky, so it worked well for a family. Chenang is about a 10-minute drive away, so I wouldn’t call the location the best. The room was clean and roomy. They provided a boiler, tissues, towels, coffee, mugs, a TV, body wash, and shampoo. There didn’t seem to be room service unless you asked, but we didn’t mind much. We did have to take our rubbish to the bin outside ourselves. Parking was on sandy ground, like beach sand, and it got my slippers dirty. I found that pretty annoying and wished it were gravel so I wouldn’t have to wash them every day.

The property is very well kept, and its little gardens are lovely. Paddy fields surround it, and you can spot buffalos or watch planes since the airport is quite close. The beds and pillows were comfy, and everything was very clean.
