Hotel Langkasuka

The room was good and breakfast was great, which makes this such a shame: bedbugs ate me alive. After the second night, my whole body was covered in bites. I took several photos of the bites and blood on the sheets to prove how badly I’d been bitten at the hotel, but they refused to refund me. I uploaded all the bite photos. Don’t stay here!

There’s a 7/11 attached to the lobby, with a passage through to the department store, and the location is good. Our room in the old building faced the ocean and had a beautiful view, but the building itself was old and not very clean. At 22:36 on our first night, a group started singing Chinese opera with microphones and speakers. We tried calling reception on the room phone, but couldn’t get through, so it seemed we’d be listening all night. They finished at 22:48, so I added one star. We could manage the room for a night or two.

The staff were good, but the location is far from the beach. There’s no beach towel or shuttle, so you need a taxi or rental car to get to the nearest beach. There’s a bad smell if you go to the right of the hotel. Compared with a standard room at a 3-star hotel in Vietnam (Phu Quok), this hotel’s deluxe rooms fell short: in both deluxe rooms we stayed in, the shower had only half a glass wall and no door. They did provide an iron and ironing board, but the WiFi was very slow.

We had no hot water for the whole stay. Even after we reported it, we were told someone would come fix it, but nobody showed up and no alternative was offered. Basic hot water was missing, and the customer service was awful.
