Ombak Villa Langkawi

I stayed from 6/1/26 to 11/1/26 with a family of six, and as a hospitality professional, I’d judge this to be the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The property is split between a modern side and old wooden buildings on stilts over a lagoon. The lagoon area is muddy and smelly. My daughter and granddaughter were placed in a room on the modern side, so we needed an electric cart to reach the far end where it was. The rest of us stayed in the wooden buildings. If this hotel were anywhere else, I have no doubt it would be compulsorily closed down. Our room was abysmal. The hotel information said every room had a safe, but ours didn’t. There was no lock on the balcony door or bathroom window. At night it was like a sauna because all the air conditioning equipment was under the stairs to the room. Service was generally appalling. The first drinks we ordered took over 45 minutes to arrive, and the food took even longer. One time I went to the restaurant for lunch and staff completely ignored me. I waited 15 minutes for someone to come over, then left. They carried on around me, while people of Malaysian origin were served quickly. The pool area is inadequate, with maybe 12 sunbeds for a lot of guests. The hotel is fairly isolated, and you need transport to reach decent beaches, restaurants, and other facilities. I’d advise anyone thinking of staying here to think again.

Miss Amalina at the front desk gave me a warm welcome at check-in and handled everything professionally. The process was seamless, and her suggestions helped me plan a relaxing getaway. The Bellman, Housekeeping, and Tour desk teams were cheerful, accommodating, and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful and palatable, and the whole team helped make my stay safe, pleasant, and memorable. I especially liked that it’s only 10 minutes from LIA. A super chill resort with a welcoming, serene atmosphere.

The villa is spacious and the surroundings are mostly peaceful, making it a nice place to relax. The beach and main areas are easy to reach, which is convenient. I stayed at Ombak Villa Langkawi for a short getaway, and found it comfortable overall. Some facilities and parts of the villa feel a little dated and could use better maintenance. Cleanliness was acceptable, though not exceptional. The staff were polite, but response times could be better. There’s potential here, but some improvements would help it meet expectations for the price.

We’re staying at Ombak Villa Langkawi (OMBAQ) for just one day. The property and location are genuinely beautiful, but this has been the worst experience we’ve had in Langkawi. The place looks premium, yet the hospitality is nowhere near acceptable. It feels completely understaffed, and that shows in every interaction. The room next to ours had dirty dishes left outside. Nobody cleared them, even when housekeeping came to clean our room. The plates are still there, piling up, and clearly visible in the video. We also ordered a few plates and bowls for our room, but they never arrived. There was no follow-up at all. The buggy service was the worst part. This is a huge property and you really need transport to get around, but we called multiple times and staff kept saying, “It’s check-in time, we can’t help you. Please walk until the buggy comes.” That’s absolutely unacceptable for a resort of this size and price. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless they completely fix their staffing and service standards.
