Simfoni Resort

We booked one apartment for two and ended up being moved between at least four. The shower didn’t work in two of them; one was taken away from us because it was supposedly meant for more than two people. In the last place, two of the three air conditioners were out, and there were no towels or toilet paper. There was no refund or apology. The hotel then told Booking we had only moved twice and were happy with the last apartment, which is simply not true. We saw four units, and the photos bore no resemblance to them. They felt like low budget hotel rooms. The stay was outrageously overpriced, with worse value than a hostel. Stay away.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times because the location is good. I’ll definitely come back.

The checkout charge was the last straw. They took 30RM because a towel supposedly had pen marks, but the marks looked exactly like the marker they use to label their own towels. We paid rather than waste time arguing. Across the four hotels we used in Singapore and Malaysia, Simfoni was the worst and left us with a bad impression on the last day of our vacation. We’d already flagged a faulty main door in one apartment and leaks from a few taps. They had warned about charges for repairs and said the refundable amount covered that, so we made sure they knew about the existing issues. We also told them we were unhappy with the service, but they didn’t seem to care. The booking process was awful. These are apartment-style rooms, and we had to reserve three 2-bedroom apartments for six guests and two small children, even though two apartments would have been more than enough. We arrived two hours before check-in and asked to get in early, but they kept us waiting almost the full two hours without handing over the rooms. They insisted on a 300 RM refundable fee and wouldn’t reduce it. Since it was our last day in MY and we didn’t need much RM, we paid 200RM and the rest in INR. They were not customer friendly at all.

My family and I had a good stay in a three-room apartment. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff were always smiling and helpful. After spending the whole day touring the island, I especially appreciated the comfortable mattress. We’d definitely stay here again.
