T Star Cottage

I had a terrible stay here. The bedding irritated my skin, and the room was noisy through the night. Wild animals ran over the roof, making very loud, strange sounds, so this isn’t a peaceful place to stay. At check-in I found there was no hot water in the shower. Then the water supply stopped altogether, including the water needed to flush the toilet, leaving us unable to do anything about it. If you’re backpacking and just need an affordable place, it might still be an option, but I had the worst stay ever.

The greenery and quiet make this a very cozy place, with wooden buildings in a Japanese style. Rooms come in basic and full-option versions. In a basic room, some things such as a mini-fridge or iron can be rented; the full-option rooms include everything. There’s drinking water to refill and bikes available for rent to explore the area. The price felt very reasonable for a calm, relaxing stay.

The rooms could use an update. Some wall coverings are peeling, and there are little things that need tidying and paint. Even so, I enjoyed my three days at T star cottage and would come back. The gardens are tranquil and full of nature, with frogs calling all around, which the French will love. Monkeys also occasionally drop by, making their rounds for things to steal.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the room had everything I needed, along with a small private terrace. It’s close to everything but still in a quiet spot. There’s plenty of greenery and wildlife too, with frogs singing at night and, if you’re lucky, monkeys to see. I’d stay here again if I return to Langkawi.
