Tomato Hotel Langkawi

Cenang Beach is only a five-minute walk away, which made the location so convenient. The rooms at Tomatto Hotel were clean and comfy, and Aainaa at the front desk was especially welcoming and helpful. Great value, and I’d happily come back.

I booked a queen room but, when I arrived, had to wait outside for over two hours because nobody was at reception. When someone finally came, they didn’t know which room was mine and opened every room in the hotel. None were ready. I was eventually put in a room with two single beds, and after I asked for the queen room I’d booked, they told me to wait again because it wasn’t ready. The hotel itself was dirty, musty, and full of mold, so I left and asked for a refund. The hotel wouldn’t process it directly and told me to contact Booking. Booking said it needed an email from the hotel confirming the refund. I contacted the hotel again, but they stopped responding, and now I’m out of pocket without receiving any service. A terrible experience. I strongly advise people to avoid this place, since you may lose your money and get no value in return.

With the hotel reopening, things aren’t all brilliant. The interior is old and quite worn, though everything works and that’s OK. The beds are comfortable. Expect some noise from monkeys in the morning. Roo

The staff were friendly, and guests get 10% off at the restaurant downstairs. I stayed here from 26/7 to 30/7 in 2017 and really liked it. Room service was good for the budget, and the room was great, with a modern washroom, mini fridge, safe, and a huge LCD TV on the wall. I didn’t bother turning the TV on since I didn’t come here to watch it. The lighting, switches, and sockets felt modern too. WiFi coverage and speed can be weak at hotels around the island, but this hotel’s WiFi seemed fairly modest in comparison. I highly recommend the place.
