Villa Sri Kampung

The rooms were much cleaner and better equipped than I expected for a property in the woods. There are three villas in a quiet, safe, beautiful landscape, and I was lucky to stay in the loveliest one, with full glass panels designed by the host to take in the surroundings. The daily room turnover was appreciated, and the host’s home-cooked breakfast tasted like it was made with love. It’s a peaceful spot, yet Kuah town and its amenities are less than 15 minutes away by car. You can also order meals through Grab, though the portions they bring are super tiny. The owner was humble, friendly, accommodating, and quick to respond. She even gave us a complimentary ride to the airport, and we really enjoyed chatting with her on the way. I found this place on Google, and choosing it turned out to be one of my best decisions. I’ll definitely come back. One issue: the neighbor’s dog howled all night, so bring good earplugs. I hope they can resolve that soon.

The setting is so quiet and restful, with a little brook running beside the villa. We felt completely at ease, and the resident dogs were adorable and made us feel extra safe, keeping watch. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and the rooms were spotless, with housekeeping each day, a mini fridge, microwave, air conditioning, and strong Wi-Fi. Water and coffee were always available too. Dyna welcomed us so warmly and was the sweetest, most helpful host. She went out of her way to arrange airport transfers and a vehicle and make sure we were comfortable. We had an amazing, truly memorable stay at villa Sri Kampung. If you want peace, comfort, and lovely hospitality, this place is for you.

The host brought a delicious local breakfast to our terrace around 8:30 AM, with fruit and Malaysian pastries, while squirrels played in the trees. The previous day, we’d come back from kayaking with damp, dirty clothes, and the host kindly offered to wash and iron everything for a small fee. It was lovely waking up to clean clothes ready for breakfast. We had been a little concerned by reviews mentioning the bathtub, dog noise, and cleanliness, but our night went very well. The bathtub issues have been fixed and everything worked. The dogs under the villa were friendly and mostly quiet, with just one or two brief barks during the night. We heard birds and sometimes monkeys, and were welcomed warmly by the host, with fresh water in the fridge as well as coffee and tea. The place is beautiful and surrounded by nature, though it may not suit you if you’re afraid of small creatures like geckos. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

The cabin is old and creaks, and the landscape lights felt a bit too bright. Still, the stay was amazing. We spotted so many birds and animals right from bed, and the stream beside us made such a meditative sound. If you’ve come to the islands hoping for a villa close to nature, this is it.
