There were little ants in the room, and the blanket didn't look very clean. The air conditioner noise made me feel sick. At RM60 a night, maybe that quality is reasonable.

Melaka is a beautiful city, and I was happy with this stay a couple of days ago. It ticked most of my boxes: cheap, clean and neat, and close enough to city sights and historical spots to walk. If all you're doing is sleeping there, I don't see the point of paying five-star prices.

We found the room clean and the staff helpful, and there's free Wi-Fi too. The location made getting around easy: a cafe is just a minute or two away, while the historic centre, malls and restaurants are about a 10-15 minute walk.

At 2 am, I called the reservation desk and an Indian man answered. He said they had one room open and told us to hurry, that we had 15 minutes. We got a Grab and arrived on time, but nobody opened the door. The reception area was dark and no one answered, even after we called several times. We were left as a couple somewhere outside the city in the middle of the night, rushed there, paid for the Grab, and had no room. Couples, especially at night, please be careful.
