Mio Boutique Hotel Melaka

We were pleasantly surprised by the Mio Hotel after our Airbnb booking was cancelled. The room was clean, with a big bed, air conditioning, hot water, and room service. We also had a view of the river, a laundromat 100 meters away, and a 7-Eleven right downstairs. Jonker Street Night Market is 800 meters away, and we walked there to soak up the atmosphere. Mio Boutique Hotel feels like a hidden gem in the heart of Melaka. We'll be back very soon.

I slept really well during my two nights here. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, and the shower was good. The place is in good condition for the price, though it's not luxurious. Breakfast was very basic and not the greatest, but you can grab something light to start the day. I preferred this peaceful location for resting to the noisy, busy area around Jonker Street. It's about a 15-minute walk to the very centre, and there are many good, small, cosy cafes within a 10-minute walk. I'll come back again.

The room had two single beds, plenty of space, and no odd smell. It came with a fridge, closet, large table for work or makeup, drinks, and TV. There was also enough room to pray or fit an extra cot. Mine had no window, so there was no view. The toilet had a water heater, but adjusting the temperature was difficult, and it smelled a bit like fart, maybe because the fan didn't work well. Breakfast was included, and I think it used the same recipes as Swiss Garden, though with fewer choices. I could see the similarities in the Western options. You can also choose to leave breakfast out. The hotel is a sister company of Swiss Garden Hotel, and its amenities are the same as Swiss Garden Melaka. My friend stayed there, and I visited their room. Parking was easy to find, even in the open lot. The hotel is right next to the Melaka river cruise, a few minutes' walk from other attractions, and within walking distance of food shops. I paid rm130 for two single beds and breakfast, 2d1n. Definitely recommend staying here.

There's plenty of paid parking right in front. The hotel is within walking distance of many interesting places, about 10-30 minutes depending where you're going. It has a touch-panel elevator, which was a wow. A 7-11, 99 SpeedM, Guardian pharmacy, mamak, and Chinese makan shop are all just seconds away. The bed was comfy, the air conditioning cool, and I slept well. Toothbrush, shower gel, and shampoo were provided. Breakfast was a nice, simple spread, but seating is limited. I had to wait in the lobby with a few other guests for seats. Maybe they could stagger breakfast times and remind people to make room for others when they're done. Some guests stayed seated looking at their phones. The TV only had channels 1, 2, and 3. You can't connect a phone, so there's no way to watch Netflix or Prime. I'd come again.
