Paid RM98 for a standard room at the public holiday rate, and found five cockroaches. The staff killed two during check-in, I got one an hour later, and two more were still crawling on the wall and bed during my short half-day stay. The staff were friendly, but the room needs to be cleaner.

We checked in on 16 Sep. The floor was very clean, but the bed sheet was dirty, so we asked for a replacement. The new one still wasn't very clean, and I didn't feel like using the brown-colored towels. The toilet was dirty too, really unpleasant to use, and the TV kept malfunctioning. We paid almost RM100 and the place was still dirty. A budget hotel doesn't have to offer lots of facilities, but cleanliness shouldn't be compromised.

Keep your valuables in sight if you use their ferry service. On the Bluewater ferries to Tioman, luggage placed on top of Bistari 2 can go missing, possibly stolen. It seemed like an open secret on the island. The police weren't much help, though they called the captain and said these cases were becoming too frequent. The management wasn't available to help either. We lost a backpack with a 10,000 MYR laptop and other things inside. To the business owner, I'm happy to support this review with a police report.

You get what you pay for with a cheap room. Ours was okay, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. There's air conditioning and a fan, plus cable TV with limited channels. No private parking and no lift. The hotel can arrange island-hopping tickets, especially for Tioman.

We paid just RM80 for a double room with windows facing the estuary. It was clean and close to pretty much everything.
