The Wood Boutique Hotel

We slept well because it was very quiet, and having every room on the ground floor was a relief for someone older like me. This was my first stay at the boutique hotel, with its colourful decor and rooms arranged to look like separate chalets. Our spacious room had two comfortable queen beds for four adults, a small sofa, a TV, and a mini fridge. It also came with mineral water, coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer. There was a small window, but it only looked onto the corridor between rooms, so it didn’t really serve a purpose even though we paid extra for it. The attached bathroom had clean towels and toiletries. There’s also a water dispenser near the entrance and a reading corner by reception. Food was easy to find in the same compound, including Wu Fu coffee house, Nasi Lemak & Chendol, Thai food, a Birds nest cafe, and a hair salon. There’s plenty of free parking for hotel guests. The only downside is that the price felt rather high.

Ms Hui, the manager, Cindy Teo at the day front office, and Mr Tan at the night front office made me feel at home. They were sincere, friendly, and welcoming, and went out of their way to help. Their local food suggestions were spot on and made the trip more enjoyable. I stayed at The Wood Boutique Hotel from 7-10 May and had a wonderful visit. It’s within walking distance of the heart of Muar town, with plenty of secured parking. My room and bathroom were clean, and the twin beds were firm and comfortable for my 80kg frame. It was great value for money. I rarely praise hotel staff, but I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m back in Muar. Thank you, The Wood Boutique Hotel, keep up the excellent work!

The room was clean and I was happy with it. There’s lots of parking, which made me feel our car was safe. For meals, you’re better off looking for food outside the hotel.

It’s a unique place with friendly staff and quite a few restaurants and cafes. Parking can be hard to find sometimes, so we’ve had to use the lots opposite, and there’s no sheltered drop-off point. I stay here every time I come to Muar.
