I was in the area for a nearby conference, so the location worked perfectly. The staff were nice and the beds comfortable, and the room was moderately clean. But the street parking was a hassle: I had to pay each day, and once I moved the car, I couldn’t find another spot. I ended up parking a long way away. There was only one very slow lift, and the worst issue was roaches. I killed seven during our five nights. The comfortable bed wasn’t worth the price, since there are definitely cheaper places nearby.

I accidentally made two bookings for the same day, but the receptionist wouldn’t cancel the extra one because they said they’d have to pay me a penalty. How much could they really lose by cancelling it? They wouldn’t even offer half my money back. Poor problem solving. Parking wasn’t free either, and nobody told me at check-in that I had to pay through the parking app. I woke up to a fine on my windshield. A reminder would’ve helped.

The room itself was good, but the hot water was unreliable. The instructions said to wait 60 seconds, yet after five minutes there was still no hot water. Maintenance checked it after I complained, but it kept coming and going. Please fix the system. We also got a parking saman, even though it was Saturday. Nobody told us at check-in that parking needed to be paid for. Guests should be clearly informed so this doesn’t happen.

Everything else was fine, and it’s a typical, satisfactory three-star hotel. But every morning there was a strange smell in the hallway, like someone had used the bathroom and left a mess.

My family and I checked in at night on 26/9 and checked out early the next morning, around 9. Every car parked in front of the hotel had a compound, including ours. Why didn’t anyone tell us? The receptionist should’ve warned guests, or is there no special parking for hotel guests? Our stay was good otherwise, but this ruined the day, especially since it was our first time in Penang.
