Manhattan Business Hotel Damansara Perdana

I was glad I’d only booked one night, because I’m not coming back. By around midnight, after arriving at 9 - 10 pm, I’d already run into several problems. The first room’s air conditioner kept closing its blinds less than five minutes after I turned it on. It wasn’t switched off, but the blinds wouldn’t open again. I tried turning it off and on, disabling the timer and pressing cancel, with no luck. I called reception for help, but the phone had no sound at all. I pressed the buttons and even unplugged and reconnected it, still nothing. I’ve never had a hotel phone be completely useless like that. The sink was half clogged, so water pooled and leaked underneath, making a mess. The toilet also pooled, though at least the flush worked. I had to go downstairs in my pajamas to report it, and reception just said, “Tukar bilik lah.” When I explained the aircon issue, they looked as though they already knew the room had problems. Why give me that room? I had to go back, repack everything and bring it downstairs to get a new room card, then head back up. They called the bigger room an “upgrade,” but I was exhausted and frustrated and only said thanks out of reflex. The new room was a bit better, and at least its aircon worked. It was next to the highways and noisy, but I won’t complain about that because it’s a city. When I went to make a drink, though, there was water left in the kettle, and the fridge had leftover watermelon from previous guests.

Breakfast was a nice way to start the day. The rooms were neat and clean, with a comfortable, relaxing feel, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful whenever we needed something. I had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend the hotel.

The bedsheets were dirty and looked as though they hadn’t been changed. Bad hygiene and a bad experience staying at this hotel.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was great. The room was shockingly tiny, though the bathroom was quite spacious. It was a last minute trip to kl and I didn’t have much choice, and since I’d never stayed in a budget hotel before, I checked every corner of the bed to make sure it felt safe to sleep on. There was a shared ironing area on my floor, but the ironing board badly needed replacing and had some nasty stuff on it. Breakfast was nasi lemak or roti canai, which I didn’t try, and it didn’t sound healthy to me. They should consider adding healthier choices. The kettle in our room didn’t work, so I asked reception for another one. It took forever, and my husband had to go down to the lobby, where they said they weren’t sure where housekeeping was. Eventually someone brought a kettle over, but it already had water in it. I asked if she’d filled it for us, or…, and I think she’d grabbed it from another room without noticing. She just told us to throw the water away. I wouldn’t come back, even though the location was good. Paying RM24 for parking for both nights was ridiculous.
