We asked for a non-smoking room, but it smelled of cigarette smoke as soon as we entered, and the odor was still there each time we came back. The bed was uncomfortable for my husband, and the headboard and pillow covers looked dirty.

It’s a good-value, cheap hotel. My room was very clean, though it wasn’t spacious. There’s a water dispenser and ironing tables, and the size was manageable for the low price.

For the last 6 months, it seems many school students have been staying here as hostel residents. More than two-thirds of the rooms on every floor are occupied by them, and when asked how long they’d stay, they said maybe another 6 months to a year. They act like they’re in a hostel, singing and playing noisily outside the doors until 1 a.m. They knock and try to open every room door to find friends, whether it’s a guest room or a classmate’s, and keep slamming doors around midnight. There’s no supervision from the school management. A Nepal guard waits outside the lobby and can’t go into the hotel. Staff can’t stop the students either. They advise them, but a few minutes later the noise starts again, disturbing other guests. If you’re a worker, traveler, or family, I don’t recommend staying here while the hotel is being used as a school hostel until 1 a.m. for 6 months to a year.

We checked into two rooms at 3 p.m. last week and paid in full. Staff said the laundry hadn’t delivered the towels yet, so they’d come later. At 5 p.m. there were still no towels. When we asked for the manager’s number, staff said they could be fined for giving it to guests. We asked them to pass on a message asking the manager to contact us, but no one did. At 6 p.m. we got the same answer. By 7 p.m., staff called to say only two towels were available, though we needed four for the two rooms. At 7:30 p.m., we asked for a refund and wanted to check out, since they still couldn’t say when the towels would arrive. Would they bring them only when we checked out? We suggested filing a police report, and then the staff called the manager. Suddenly, a staff member came out from behind reception and took two more towels from the store beside the lobby. It was strange that four towels appeared after hours of being told the laundry hadn’t sent any. Does laundry deliver towels piece by piece? The explanation made no sense and was very disappointing. We’d never had an incident like this. I was told the manager’s name was MS. PREMA. She didn’t want to speak to us or call us back, and reportedly threatened staff with fines if they gave guests her number. What is the manager’s job if she’s afraid to face guest problems? I hope management takes this seriously and deals with an irresponsible manager who avoids guests. If you stay here, make sure you get towels before paying. The room, bedsheets and toilet were very clean, though. Thanks to the cleaner.
