Lily Cottage & Kitchen

I’d booked a double room with a shared bathroom for two nights, but when I arrived, I was told there was no more Lily Cottage and it was Ly Lodge instead. I ended up taking a four-bed dorm. It was quiet, clean, and reasonably comfortable. The kitchen had changed its name too, but it was well managed, and the staff were very nice. They spoke English well. Fine for a short stay.

The restaurant was great, and the staff were super friendly and always ready to help. Our rooms were in a lovely green garden with nice views over the area, and we had the best stay at Lily’s cottage. It’s close to Mt Kinabalu. Getting around is a bit of a hassle if you don’t have your own transport, but the staff are very willing to help with that too.

The people here were really nice and helped us a lot, including with public transportation. My girlfriend was sick, so they let us keep the room for a couple more hours for a cheap price. There’s a good restaurant with a nice view. A good place to stay when climbing the mountain.

Lily, the host, and the staff were friendly and happy to help. I lost my climbing bars on Mt Kinabalu, so Lily’s husband drove me back to Kinabalu center to get them. I really appreciated that. Also, their burger is great! The house isn’t high level, but if you’re just there to climb Mt Kinabalu and sleep, I’d recommend it.
