The Box Hotel

The restaurant next door was the only saving grace, and it was fine. The rest was about as bad as an experience gets. My wife and kids got bedbugs, traffic noise went on all night and made sleep impossible, and it was humid, wet, and cold. Reception was often unattended, and getting to the park meant walking 10-15 minutes along the national road.

The owner was appalling and insulted both our holiday plans and our home country. When we arrived, no one was at reception, so we waited 15 minutes while the whole hotel was on its lunch break. The room was dark, dingy, and very cold. The showers were either not warm or had terrible pressure, which felt especially awful after a cold day on the mountain. Road noise came clearly into the room all night, so a good night's sleep was impossible. Stay away!

Rain poured on checkout day, and after another car blocked the lobby entrance, my friend pulled up there to make loading easier. I politely asked staff to help find the vehicle's owner, but they sent me to the cafeteria to sort it out myself. They were courteous in how they said it, but offered no real help in the bad weather. We ended up loading the luggage in the rain and got soaked, along with our belongings. That left a sour end to the stay, and we won't return. Management should address these service problems so other guests don't face the same frustrations. There were other problems throughout our visit. At both check-in and check-out, reception staff were playing games while attending to guests, which felt unprofessional. In the cold weather we asked for an extra blanket, only to be told they were sold out because another guest had bought four. The hotel has been operating for a long time, so it should be better prepared with basic necessities. Our room's water heater didn't provide hot water, and our group of six had to share just two hair dryers. I've never encountered separate rooms having to share only two. We also found a small cockroach in the room, which raised concerns about cleanliness and hygiene.
