Mount Hill Villa Kundasang by OYO Rooms

I can't recommend this hotel or suggest it to anyone. We had an unpleasant night, and the condition of the place fell far below an acceptable standard. It looks very old, the cleanliness was below expectations, the wallpaper was peeling, and the bedsheets had stains. The mattress was so uncomfortable that it was hard to sleep. The room was very small and had extremely poor soundproofing. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly. Water kept leaking onto the floor when we turned on the sink tap, and the hot water stopped halfway through my shower. The first room they assigned also had a door that wouldn't close or lock properly. When we told the staff, they casually said it needed a “technique” to close, which was completely unacceptable.

There was no electricity on our first night, and even the generator was out of order. Water was restricted for two nights, so the storage tank needs attention. They also didn't clean the room daily. This fell short of what I expect as the minimum for a hotel.

The kitchenette was fine and available whenever we needed it. The room was dusty, there was no bin in the toilet, and the door lock felt loose and not very secure.

The balcony has a gorgeous, clear view of Mount Kinabalu, and Desa Farm City is conveniently nearby. Inside, though, the room felt extremely cramped. There was only a fan and no air conditioning, so the comfort was below what I'd expect even from a typical budget hotel. If the view matters more than comfort, it may suit you. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.
