You can walk to pretty much everything from here, though traffic on the road gets noisy. The room is simple, and it feels worth the price if you find a decent discount when booking. There’s no parking, so drivers need to get parking coupons.

After traveling a long way, I was exhausted, but management wouldn’t let me check in early. I had to wait another three hours. They could be more flexible with tired guests if Sabah wants tourism to grow.

We felt safe with staff on site around the clock, and they were friendly and quick to help with our requests. They all spoke English, which made things easy for us. The rooms were clean and had air conditioning, a TV, a kettle, and enclosed showers. We were so glad to find this lovely little Hotel in central Sandakan. The price was very good too, and the team at Central Hotel made our stay a really nice one ❤️

There is a lift, so you don’t have to climb the stairs. The central location is handy, but cleanliness is the main issue for me. It’s passable for one night, though I’d think twice about a longer stay. The evening receptionist wasn’t very comfortable handling English, but I can’t say how the day shift is.
