1 Orange Hotel KLIA & KLIA2

I booked this mainly to get some rest during a 15-hour overnight layover at KLIA. Some airport shops were open, but a few wouldn’t let people buy anything until about 7 AM, so a room made more sense. The hotel is close to the airport, and the room and bathroom were both spacious. There’s a supermarket next door with lots of different items, plus plenty of restaurants along the street, so food was easy to find. We had to detour to reach the property because Malaysia was having a storm and it had rained for two days, flooding the nearby road. I got the room at half price, so for that deal and the location I was happy enough. At the regular price, though, it might not be such good value.

The location is the one good thing, with the airport nearby and some decent food options around. The room was depressing enough that I asked to switch from the first one. There were stains and marks everywhere, it was stuffy with no windows, and it felt dirty and poorly maintained. The bed and pillows were hard and uneven, and the shower leaked. The room air conditioning didn’t work properly, and the corridors were hot with no air conditioning either. I also saw Indian men at reception discussing me, and they seemed to be there all the time. This was one of the worst places I’ve stayed. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was a decent size, very clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The shower worked fine, too. I couldn’t find the remote for either the air conditioning or the TV, though, and a kettle with cups would’ve been handy for a hot drink at night or in the morning. The passageway into the building was dirty and smelly. There are small convenience shops and food stalls right next door, which was great. Convenient and affordable.

For the price, this is the best hotel I’ve tried along this strip. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the reception staff were great. The cleaning team was very thorough, too. A clean, well-run place that deserves five stars for what you get for your money.
