Breakfast came with the stay, but the selection was very limited and didn't feel worth what we paid. The room also seemed dusty and not properly maintained, with a sticky floor. My partner started sneezing shortly after we came in, and the hygiene left us uncomfortable. When I asked for slippers, the receptionist said they were out of stock. I also requested an iron and ironing board, but only an iron was provided, with a suggestion to use a bedsheet as the base. That didn't feel acceptable or safe to me, especially when even budget hotels often have proper ironing facilities. The bathroom felt dated too: the shower sprayed unevenly, and the older toilet bowl made it less comfortable. For a resort in this price range, the experience was quite disappointing and didn't feel worth the money.

The beachfront setting was the best part of our pleasant stay at Sutra Beach Resort. We had lovely sea views, a calm atmosphere, and friendly, helpful staff, making it a good place for a quiet family break. The room felt quite old and needs maintenance, particularly the toilet. Water pressure in the shower was very slow, so I had to stand close to the wall to shower properly. There was also a leak in the toilet, and on the first day it got my clothes wet. With proper upkeep and some upgrades, the resort could be much better given its location.

For the price, it was very worthwhile overall, and the pool water was heated. But the pool tiles felt a bit dangerous. We stayed two nights for a Redang day trip, with the jetty about 30 minutes away. The rooms are old, and although I saw ports for a hairdryer, there wasn't one. You can only request one extra towel. Breakfast had a great view but tasted bland, with an average selection. Parking was very dark, and there are basically no restaurants near the hotel. There's one Tomyam shop about 10 minutes away, which seemed to be the only option.

Our room looked out over the sea, and we had a pleasant stay. The breakfast buffet had a mix of eastern and western dishes, with more than enough to enjoy. Staff were attentive to our requests and polite. Kudos to the Sutra teams.

This place worked well for me and my kids, even though the resort is old and basic. We really enjoyed our stay. It's a quiet, peaceful place to relax without needing to do much, with a village-chalet feel instead of a high-end resort. If you want a premium experience or you're fussy, you may want to look elsewhere. If you're happy with something simple, I'd recommend trying it. Ask for seaview room 263 (queen) or 264 (double singles).
