Bari Beach Resort by OYO Rooms

The beach was rough, so it didn’t seem suitable for swimming. The resort’s large grounds could work well for family day activities, I imagine. We were the only guests because of MCO, and got the room at a third of the usual price. We needed somewhere to stay overnight before business early the next morning, and for that it was totally worth it. Our room was clean and spacious.

There’s a path along the coast that’s nice for a morning run, and the beach is just behind the motel. It worked well for a one-night stop while traveling on to islands such as Redang or Kapas. At RM 75 a night, I had nothing to complain about. Our twin beds deluxe room had a queen bed and a single. The room was spacious, and the toilet was well equipped and clean. They provide mosquito repellent, which was useful since I noticed some mosquitoes. There’s air conditioning and wifi too. Try to check in before 7PM. If you’ll be late, call ahead, since the receptionist goes home after 7PM. The road to the motel is quite dark at night, so drive carefully.

We were meant to spend the night here before heading to Redang Island, but arrived before 8 p.m. to find the place dark and creepy, with nobody at the counter or outside. It looked old and poorly kept. My friend called the management at the number on the signboard, but nobody answered. A guest coming out of her room told us check-in ended at 7 p.m. The management should have told us that earlier. I guess things happen for a reason. Allah is the best planner.

The beach behind the hotel is peaceful and convenient, a nice place to take pictures or unwind. That earns it a star from me. Still, if you have a bigger budget and sleep lightly like I do, I wouldn’t recommend it. The hotel is right by the main road, and the traffic disturbed my sleep. It is a budget hotel, so I accepted that downside.
