The room was clean and the stay was pleasant. Breakfast for two came with the room package, which was a nice extra. The bathroom was a little cramped, especially around the shower, and the Wi-Fi didn't work while we were there. We were told renovation work on the second floor was the reason.

We went for iftar here today, 18/03/2026, on the 28th of Ramadan 1447. This hotel caters to students studying hospitality, management, culinary arts, music, and sound engineering. UITM offered an iftar target throughout Ramadan, with live performances by students from the UITM music school, and they were pretty good. The audio department also took part in setting up the sound for the performances. It was a new iftar experience for me.

For RM65/pax, the iftar at Hotel UITM Shah Alam was about what I expected. The spread was mostly standard Malay dishes, some decent, though none stood out. There was no “kambing golek”, just grilled lamb, and it was tough to chew. The grilled chicken was bland and poorly seasoned. An average buffet at a 2-star hotel, I guess you get what you pay for. baik gi makan sukiya 😂😂😂

I asked for fresh lemon with my hot honey lemon instead of the pre-squeezed juice, and the bill came to RM9, which was RM3.50 above the original price. Meal prices have gone up a lot too, and I’m not sure the taste is worth the cost.
