V Motel by OYO Rooms

A cockroach crawling on the bed was the last straw. The only reason I gave two stars was the free hot and cold drinking water dispensers and a small lounge on each floor. We had avoided OYO after earlier bad experiences, then tried this hotel because the reviews looked decent. That was a mistake, and it’ll be our last OYO stay. We booked a non-smoking room, but it reeked of cigarette smoke when we opened the door. Staff said every other room was occupied, even though it was only 4 pm, and sprayed air freshener that irritated my eyes. There were no windows to air the room out. The sheets looked stained and the pillow was lumpy. We chose a room without a window to avoid noise, but screaming children next door and motorbikes outside kept us awake. Maintenance was poor too: the bathroom door wouldn’t close fully, the sink faucet sprayed sideways, the TV hung crooked, and the Wi-Fi kept dropping.

The only thing that bothered me was the pillow, which felt too squishy. I just piled them up while sleeping, so it wasn’t a big problem. The room was very clean and spacious, and the price felt worth it. The toilet was clean and had a bidet, and the shower had good hot water. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. The hotel is above a restaurant. For me, it’s a perfect hotel!

Street noise made it almost impossible to rest. There’s no soundproofing, and the rempit bikes kept roaring past. The bed was dated and sagging, and so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep well. The toilet was small even though the room was oversized, and water leaked from the bowl nonstop. The receptionist barely smiled and only did the basics. I won’t be back.

We came back for a second stay because the rooms are large and comfortable for a family, even with no lift to the third floor. But the TV still didn’t work, just as it hadn’t during our first visit in June 2020 or the second one in May 2022. There’s no fridge or pantry either. What really disappointed me was the electricity being shut off sharp at noon. With kids to take care of, that made for a bad experience.
