The mall connection is very convenient, and the initial room price looked budget-friendly. But over my two-day stay, there was no housekeeping at all, and the air conditioning seemed broken or impossible to adjust. It kept the room at an uncomfortable steady temperature, with an unresponsive thermostat. Parking was the biggest problem. Overnight guests get no free or validated parking, so I had to use the attached mall garage without a hotel rate or cap. That added RM50 for two days and wiped out the savings from the room price. For a fair rate, the service felt unfair. Management needs to address basic room maintenance and parking before I could recommend staying here.

The room itself is good, but the facilities are really poor. There’s just one lift, and it moves painfully slowly. The floors are peeling and the walls chipping, with little sign of maintenance. And don’t trust the pictures, there’s no pool, fitness centre or lounge at all. The AC can be adjusted with the small wall controller, and there is a water heater, you just have to switch it on. The area is fine, though the nearby mosque and LRT Subang Jaya mean some noise and morning azaan. P.S. Brace yourself when you get to the reception room. Try not to laugh.

The bed was clean enough, there were no cockroaches, and the location is good. But for RM 200, the basic room wasn’t worth it. I stayed here in 2022 and enjoyed it then, yet the standard has dropped badly in just a few years. It’s now called “Sunday Hotel Subang,” and the quality is awful. The room and facilities were in rough shape, with stains on the furniture and curtains, a broken TV, black mold in the bathroom corners and a broken soap dispenser. It looked like no one had maintained the place in years. There was only one working lift, so everyone waited a long time, and the reception was just a converted room on the 3A floor. The official website didn’t work, which should have been my first warning. They required a RM 100 cash deposit that hadn’t been mentioned when I booked. I asked for a third towel; they made a fuss, then said they’d bring one, but never did. This feels like a fake “luxury” shoplot 2 Star hotel trying to look “atas.” It’s bad and sad. I should have paid maybe 100 or 80.

I booked through Agoda as “Sunday Sunway Hotel,” but when I arrived the property was called “Empire Hotel.” The name change wasn’t explained clearly. There was no proper lobby because of renovation work, and the reception was inside a hotel room. Parking was shared with the mall and inconvenient. I’d requested a king bed but got two single beds, and the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. The room was dirty, the air conditioning leaked, the heater didn’t work and the shower pressure was very weak. Most worrying, the main door could still be opened from outside after I locked it from within. I didn’t feel safe. My booking said breakfast was included, but the receptionist disagreed, which makes me wonder whether Agoda checks listings properly. People kept coming and going at odd hours, adding to my discomfort about what might be going on. I checked out a day early and strongly wouldn’t recommend staying here.
