Orchid Haven

They advertised free breakfast, but we never received any. In the morning I had to wake the receptionist, who was asleep, twice, and he didn't help at all. The place felt extremely unprofessional and poorly managed. I'd rather sleep on the street than stay there again. Avoid it. When we arrived, nobody was at reception to check us in. We called the numbers posted at the front desk several times before someone finally answered.

We never stayed after the owner shouted at us and acted aggressively. We had booked the sister hotel Rose Haven, then got a message about two hours before check-in saying construction at our original booking meant we'd be moved to this other hotel for greater comfort. I checked and it cost one third less. I asked for the difference back or for it to go toward an extra night's stay, and the owner yelled that the price difference had nothing to do with us. I've never been spoken to so badly. The hotel is also wedged between shops on the main road, so it's likely noisy.

We were in room number 6. It had no window and was very quiet. The fan worked well since it was already cold outside. Breakfast was free, with bread, jam, coffee, and tea. You could use the kitchen to cook, or make coffee and tea anytime. The shared bathroom was clean too.

I liked the decor. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and check-in went smoothly.
