African Kwela Guest House

The staff made me feel like a friend they were glad to welcome, and they were quick to help with anything I needed, including good tips on what to see and do. That really made African Kwela Guest House stand out for me. The room was spotless, comfortable, and full of character, and the quiet setting made it easy to relax while still being convenient for getting into the city center. I also loved cooling off by the pool in the Windhoek heat. Breakfast was included, tasty, and generous, with plenty of choice. From arrival onward, I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and warm welcome. This was a highlight of my trip to Namibia, and I’ll definitely return when I’m next in Windhoek.

I stayed here for two nights, once before and once after driving around Namibia. Both rooms were clean and comfortable, the location worked well, and breakfast was good. The staff were good too, until my last morning. I’d asked for a taxi to the airport, but the owner forgot to arrange it and nobody came. By the time they called one, I was already 40 minutes behind schedule and nearly missed my flight. If you need a ride, arrange it yourself or use a Lefa so you don’t finish your trip as frustrated as I was.

The owners care about how your trip is going and give really good recommendations. It’s a great place to stop in Windhoek before heading off to explore more of Namibia.

Ian deserves a thank you for arranging to get a tablet we’d forgotten sent on to our next stop. We enjoyed our one night at African Kwela, which felt safe and pleasant. The rooms were clean and had what we needed, and the nicely decorated shared area was a relaxing spot by the pool.
