The views and location are amazing, and that alone makes the stay worthwhile. The campsites, though, look worn and need attention: one tabletop was missing, the toilet and water valves leaked, and the canvas looked tired. Service was fine, but felt stiff and unfriendly, especially at the bar.

The campsite has great views, and you can eat at the restaurant if you let them know in time. Just remember it's 4 km from the campsites. The open garbage bags were a problem. On our second night, ours disappeared, probably taken by Cape Foxes, leaving plastic and other rubbish scattered somewhere around the area. Lidded bins that people can open but animals can't would help.

The views and quiet surroundings more than made up for seeing few animals beyond oryx and springbok, which is due to the environment. We had a great time on the Sunset-Safari with our driver. We felt part of Kanaan rather than like just another guest. The staff were more than friendly, and the atmosphere was almost family-like. We also really enjoyed the food, so thanks to the kitchen staff. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, and would definitely return to this wonderful part of Namibia.

We had to wait 30 minutes for help getting our luggage down the rocky, downhill path to the tent, and I had to ask twice. I'd been looking forward to a cold beer on the deck with the view, but it was room temperature. There was no hot water on arrival night or the next morning, and the water pressure was poor. At bedtime, the tent window wouldn't stay shut, so I used my daughter's hair band to hold it closed. The food wasn't great either, sorry Kanaan. We stayed at 9 lodges on our Namibia trip, all with Solar, and had no problems at the others. At almost 8K a night, I expect basics like working hot water. When I raised these issues at checkout, the receptionist seemed uninterested and said she'd send a survey, which never arrived. Don't reply saying you'll look into it, because I don't believe you will. You won't see us again soon. Read the complaints here and do something about them. Pathetic. Don't waste your money staying here.
