Stern self catering apartments

The apartments are spacious and the location is handy, near the bus station and large supermarkets. But the place needs better cleaning and upkeep. The sink and showerhead were blocked, and there was hair on the sheets and in the shower. The apartments felt cold, except for the small single room that gets sun all day. Staff either don’t reply to WhatsApp messages or only answer selectively.

There was nobody available to check us in when we arrived, though we managed to get WiFi and contact them through the WhatsApp number. The rooms were clean, but some things, like the kettle, didn’t work. It’s on a busy road, so expect traffic noise from 5AM. Fine for an overnight stop or two.

The roaches were the main problem for me. We found them in the kitchen every day, which made me uncomfortable. I told the receptionist, and she said she’d buy something to deal with them. My husband is Zambian and said this is common wherever you stay in Africa. If they sort it out, I’d stay again. The apartment was spacious, had a balcony we loved, and the kitchen had the basics we needed. Internet was satisfactory, the amenities were good, and the price was reasonable. The staff were also attentive and helpful, and the place felt like a home away from home. We were right in the heart of Windhoek Central, within walking distance of lots of places. We hardly needed a taxi, and when we did, it was very affordable. I’d recommend Stern Self-Service apartments to anyone wanting a homelike place in a great location.

Pricilla and all the staff were so kind and wonderful, thank you! The apartments were lovely, tidy, spacious, and had what we needed for self-catering. The price was very reasonable, and the CBD location made it easy to walk everywhere. Morning traffic can be a bit disruptive if you want to sleep in, though. We felt at home as soon as we arrived.
