The gizzards were so good that I ordered them five times, even at ₦4,000 a plate. The peaceful, green setting in Iyaganku was another draw, and the exterior was well maintained. I booked the "Luxury Suite" for ₦52,500 over Easter break, but the staff seemed surprised I was coming even though I’d booked a week ahead. After arriving at 7 PM, I spent my first three hours wrestling with a faulty AC. Not much of a royal welcome. The complimentary breakfast for one was decent and kept me going. The options were yam with egg sauce, bread with omelette and tea or coffee, or oats and boiled eggs. Nothing fancy. Two cheeky birds later perched on my windowsill and chirped away, which was a lovely surprise. At least the wildlife came through when the hotel experience was uneven. There were water shortages in the mornings twice, with the taps dry for 30 minutes. Reception said they were pumping water, but I wondered why they couldn’t do it before dawn instead of during the morning rush. Housekeeping also fell short. I had to ask for clean sheets and cleaning, and the effort still felt half-hearted: streaky mirrors, dusty glasses, and surfaces that hadn’t had a proper wipe. The room lighting at night was oddly dim, more dungeon romance than luxury suite. A little redesign would help. The online information wasn’t helpful, which made me hesitate before booking. Still, taking a chance got me a reasonably decent stay, with some quirks. I might return if they sort out the AC, water timing, and housekeeping. For now, I’ll be thinking about those gizzards and my Nat Geo Wild guests.

The power was consistent and the AC worked reliably. There was no Internet or DSTV, though.

Staff were professional and very helpful, and the surroundings were spotless. I especially liked the beautiful garden and outdoor bar in the evening. The rooms were clean, nicely furnished, and everything worked, though guests should be given the AC remote. Breakfast is complimentary, with two dishes to choose from, but you have to eat it in the restaurant. It was a wonderful stay, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

The garden is roomy, airy, and beautiful, and I especially enjoyed being outside during the week. The food was great, a little more expensive than I expected but not ridiculous, and the rooms were neat. Rates are pretty reasonable, and the location felt secure. The bathroom wasn’t quite hotel quality, but it was okay. Friday night gets packed, which you’d love if you’re into a crowd.
