Signature apartments

I booked signature apartments through Airbnb, and this was such a horrible experience that I’m taking the time to write about it. I’m an easy customer to please. I just want value for my hard-earned money and a smooth stay. My advice is to book this apartment only if you want to pay for stress and total incompetence. After I booked and had already been charged, the host contacted me and said I should cancel because they had just raised the price. The booking was non-refundable, which the host had set that way. I told them they could cancel it so I could find somewhere else, but they didn’t, so I thought everything was okay. Then check-in day came. I’d messaged the host the day before as the booking instructions said, but got no reply. I didn’t even know how I’d get in, and had to ask Airbnb support for his number. I finally reached him by phone, and he said he’d give me the keys when I arrived. When I got there, they kept me waiting outside for three hours. They said they didn’t know how to receive their Airbnb payment and wouldn’t let me enter, claiming they’d only just started using Airbnb. I explained that Airbnb had already charged me and they needed to sort it out with Airbnb, since I was just the customer, but they wouldn’t listen. They eventually canceled through Airbnb, which began refunding me. I still hadn’t received the refund when they asked me the next day, after checkout, to pay the naira equivalent of what Airbnb was refunding. They should have handled that from the start instead of letting me book and putting me through all this stress. The electricity in the apartment was awful and kept going off. I called the host to ask why, but he never answered. I told the host and his boss, who’d tried to keep me outside, that I’d used Airbnb many times before. Usually I don’t even meet the host, I just use the place and leave. I’ve always had good reviews because I don’t like trouble and don’t give people trouble either. This is probably my first Google review, and I’m writing it because the experience was so bad. I hope they improve, but you don’t want to be their experiment too, so avoid it! I’m going to add all the chats with them and Airbnb support so you can see what I went through. This was the first time I’d ever contacted Airbnb support just because I booked Signature Apartments Lekki!
