The View Hotel

The staff were courteous and seemed to want to help, though it was clear that management’s policies and the hotel’s infrastructure limited what they could do. The quiet residential setting was another plus. Even so, the problems took over the stay, and I wouldn’t return or recommend it unless major changes are made. Basic facilities were a real struggle. We spent more than 90 minutes changing rooms to find working WiFi and a toilet that flushed properly. After a long international flight, that was very frustrating. The staff looked stressed, and the issue seemed outside their control. I eventually got a suite with its own WiFi, which fixed the connection problem, but it shouldn’t have taken all that effort. For a place presenting itself as mid- to upper-tier, unreliable WiFi and bathroom facilities are not acceptable. The rooms look nice, but they need to function. The booking process also made me uneasy. I had paid through PayPal on the hotel website weeks ahead and received a confirmation email and booking code. Then, shortly before arriving, I got emails asking for my WhatsApp number to “confirm” the reservation. After I shared it, they asked for receipts and other documents just one day before check-in. I’ve travelled widely and never had a hotel handle a paid, confirmed booking this way. It caused needless anxiety and seemed like a loophole scammers could exploit. It felt very unprofessional. At check-in I was handed a waiver saying the hotel, its staff, and owners weren’t responsible for guests’ stolen or damaged belongings, while another clause said I’d pay for damage to hotel property. That felt one-sided. I wouldn’t sign, especially after being told refunds weren’t available. Once the manager was called, I was allowed to check in without signing. Guests should read anything they’re given carefully, and the hotel needs to revisit this policy and its internal practices.
