Fercy and his mom are incredibly kind and know the area well. Even though they were fully booked, they found room for all of us, with an air mattress and a spot on the couch. Fercy showed me good places around town to grab a bite, and we all watched a movie together. Staying in their family home was cozy and clean, and it was so much fun. Great hostel close to the ferry port.

We paid little for the room, and it was fine for a night before our ferry the next day. The bed and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, towels were included, and the staff were nice. There’s a kitchen, drinks for sale, and some cute pets. It’s tricky to find down a dark alley. The bathroom has no proper door, and from some angles you can see straight through, which isn’t ideal. For what we paid, though, it was all acceptable.

The owner was so sweet and ready to help with anything, and her little boy was adorable. I felt safe, even though I couldn’t get my room door to lock from the inside. The room wasn’t the cleanest I’ve seen, but that didn’t matter much to me. I really liked staying in a local, authentic home. The location is perfect, the bathroom was clean, and you can cook your own meal in the kitchen.

Bluefields was worth a visit for its interesting, diverse culture and friendly people. The host was so kind and helpful, and the place felt welcoming, friendly, and homey. It’s a great place to relax on the long journey to or from the Corn Islands. Thanks for having me twice :)
