Hotel Dario

We loved this place and would recommend it 100%. It’s well located near everything, with easy parking, clean rooms, and working AC. The on-site restaurant serves delicious food, and the staff are friendly and really professional.

The room was pretty old and beat-up, though that seemed understandable given the lack of tourism. I still felt quite safe, and despite being right by the main bar and restaurant street, the hotel was surprisingly quiet at night. It’s just a 1-2 minute walk to the town square, so the location is fantastic. Hotel Dario is beautiful, with old colonial style throughout, from the exterior colors to the gardens. The welcome was warm: staff were excited to have guests, took our bags, and offered welcome drinks. We stayed one night and were very comfortable. Breakfast was included and was one of my favorite meals of the trip. I also had a great conversation with the hotel manager. Traveling in Nicaragua has shifted my expectations of quality, given the challenges the country has faced with tourism recently. The team at Hotel Dario did their best to give us a great experience. People in Nicaragua seem happy to welcome tourists and make their visit a good one.

I stopped in briefly at 3:45pm on 9/1/2025 after lunch, because I wanted to see this historic hotel. I’m staying at a nearby Airbnb ehile visiting Granada and had been thinking about staying at Dario soon. A man who looked like hotel waitstaff, around 35 and wearing an apron while carrying crates of wine goblets, approached me and was pretty rude. He said I couldn’t look around the hotel’s common area and told me to leave. I didn’t argue and just left. I don’t know who owns the hotel, but if tourists or potential guests aren’t allowed to see the main common areas, that policy should be posted. I’d considered staying a night or two, but after being treated this way, they won’t get any of my hard-earned money.

The only issue I noticed was low water pressure in the shower. When anything came up, staff helped right away, and there was a safe for the belongings we needed to secure. Ramon, who handles food service, is a really lovely man. Our concierge Tonya and Jeffrey arranged a fantastic tour guides who were very helpful when we had questions. The place is beautiful, even better than the photos.
