Hotel Aalders

The hotel sits on a quiet residential street in the museum area, a real treat in busy Amsterdam. The city centre is a pleasant 20/30 minute walk away, and there's also a tram that goes straight to Central Station in about 30 minutes. We felt looked after from arrival. Staff were welcoming, suggested good restaurants, and upgraded us at no charge to meet a request that couldn't be accommodated when we booked. Even after checkout, they stored our huge bags in a secure room and let us charge phones, use the bathroom, and hang out in the lobby. It really felt like being part of a family for a night. The decor is lovely, and there's an honesty bar too. Our room was spotless and came with more towels than we needed. The bed was very comfortable. One thing to watch when booking is that prices vary between the 160cm and 180cm double beds. The bathroom was extremely tiny, though I liked the refillable shampoo and shower bottles, which smelled lovely and cut down on waste. This is my new favourite. I'll be back as soon as I can.

The place had the look and feel of an old holiday movie, and I absolutely loved it. Our family of four shared a roomy bedroom, which was cleaned every day. Breakfast didn't have a huge selection, but it was still nice. The staff were lovely, especially Kim and a few others at the front desk. Kim showed us so much about the city. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

It was quiet at night, and the entrance door stayed locked, which helped us feel safe. Getting to public transport was easy, and several major museums were within walking distance. The rooms were very clean and roomy enough for a short visit, while the reception being staffed around the clock made everything convenient. They also handled requests kindly and quickly, like bringing us an extra blanket on short notice. Just keep in mind that the smallest room has a 140 cm bed, which may feel cramped for two. We had a great stay and would gladly return.

We found the staff friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is in the museum district, with other parts of the city within walking distance, or you can take the tram.
